Information Letter on Empower Leadership Training Conf on Sept. 22nd

Dear Pastors, Ministry Leaders, and You,

Grace to you. The Long Harbor Southern Baptist Association is personally inviting churches, friends, neighbors, and you to our EMPOWER Ministry Leadership Training Event on Saturday, 

September 22, 2018, from 8:00am - 3:00pm.

The EMPOWER Ministry Leadership Training Event will be held at the Neighborhood Church of Long Beach, located at 3435 San Anseline Avenue, Long Beach, CA 90808. Register early and save! Early registration is $30/person if you register by September 8, 2018. The registration fee is $35/person if you register after September 8, 2018, or if you register at the door. This training event includes continental breakfast, catered lunch from Chick-Fil-A, plus helpful resource information as a take away.

We will begin the event with raising the roof together in exuberant praise and worship because we want your training experience to be both motivational, as well as empowering. You will leave this powerful event not only knowing something about church ministry and leadership, but also fired up to make your worship experience a more vibrant vehicle for God to reach people.

EMPOWER Leadership Conference titles include:

  • Pastor’s Conference Leader” taught by Dr. Bill Agee (Executive Director of California Southern  

        Baptist Convention).  Dr. Agee will also be our keynote speaker at the Opening Assembly.

  • Breathing Life Into Sunday School” and “6 Principles for Making Disciples” taught by 

        Ken Braddy (Manager of LifeWay Adult Ongoing Bibles Studies / Manager of Lifeway Sunday  

        School Training, Nashville, TN) 

  • Discipleship for the Black Middle Class” and “Big Results: Sunday School and Black Church  

        Life” taught by Dr. Mark Croston (National Director, Black & Western Church Partnership)

  • Foundations for Faith - Teaching Preschoolers” taught by Ann Iorg (California Southern    

        Baptist Convention Preschool Consultant, and wife of Gateway Seminary President, Jeff Iorg)

  • Unleashing the Power of Prayer” taught by Roger Byrd (Music & Worship Specialist of the  

         California Southern Baptist Convention)

  • Reaching Young Adults” and “How to Create a Lesson Plan” taught by Daryl Watts 

  (Church Revitalization Initiative Team California Southern Baptist Convention)

  • Loving God and Loving My Muslim Neighbor” and “6 Ways To Reach the World” taught by  

        Dr. C. Fyne Nsofar (Associate Professor of Intercultural Studies California Baptist University)

  • More Effective Bible Teaching for Adults” taught by Marty Leach (Mt. Zion Church of Ontario,  

         Sunday School Consultant) 

  • Unexpected Lessons in Church Revitalize” taught by Rolland E. Slade (Senior Pastor Meridian 

        Baptist Church, El Cajon, CA)

  • Chaos: Serving the Needs in Chaotic Times” taught by Lyn Gabriel (MDIV, BCC / Director of

  •   “What is Church Revitalization and Why Do We Need It?” taught by Dr. Harold Hambley, LBHA Church Health Consultant and Advance School Director
  •   Topic To Be Announced, taught by Dr. A. B. Vines, pastor New Seasons Church of San Diego/Pres of CSBC, and First Vice-Pres of SBC.


There are 3 Ways to Register for the EMPOWER Ministry Leadership Training Event:

  1. REGISTER ONLINE: Register early and save! Early registration is available through September 8, 2018 at The early registration fee is $30/person.
  2. REGISTER BY MAIL: Mail the enclosed registration form and registration fees to the LBHSBA at 4508-A Atlantic Ave #101, Long Beach, CA 90807, “Attention: Empower”. Please make checks payable to Long Beach Harbor Southern Baptist Association. Note: Registration forms postmarked after September 8, 2018 will be $35/person.
  3. REGISTER AT THE DOOR: The registration fee will be $35/person at the door.
