SIG Alert!

40 Weekdays of Prayer for the Pastors, Churches, Cities, and Requests of the Long Beach Harbor Southern Baptist Association.  See Prayer Resources above for full lists and definition of "SIG Alert."

Day 2 – John 4.23-24: Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.  God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and truth.

  1. Pray that God will enable us to worship Him in our prayers in spirit and truth.
  2. Pray for the Central Baptist Church, their pastor Rev. Gerald Waddis, his wife and their family, their church leaders, and congregation.
  3. Pray for the United Baptist Church, their pastor Rev. James Go, his wife Mary and their family, their church leaders, and congregation.
  4. Pray for the cities of Avalon and Two Harbors, and for Catalina Island, for their elected and appointed officials, for their citizens, and for God’s will to be done in that city, town, and island.
  5. Pray for leadership workshops in our association, which will train and strengthen church and associational ministry teams in their effectiveness.

Thoughts for Thinking: (Changed Mondays & Thursdays.)

"If we had True Revival"...

1. There would be a return to the authority of the Word of God:

2. There would be profound conviction of sin:

3. There would be an impact on lawlessness and crime:
4. There would be a decline of worldliness in the church:
5. There would be radical change:
6. There would be a return to holiness:
7. The Sanctity of the Lords day ( Sunday), would be restored:
8. There will be mass Evangelism by the church:
9. There will be much made of Jesus:
10. When real Revival comes we will know it.  —Vance Havner

Too many are willing to sit at God’s table, but not work in His field.  —Vance Havner

You can’t win a battle you don’t think exists.  —John Eldridge

People may not agree with our theology but they shouldn’t be able to argue with our lives.  —John McGowan

The Gospel is the only story where the hero dies for the villain.  —unknown

Don’t worry about walking a mile in my shoes, just try a day thinking in my head.  —Lila Hedglin

Don't find fault, find a remedy. Anybody can complain.  —Henry Ford

Life is 10 percent what happens to me and 90 percent of how I react  to it.—John Maxwell

If the rate of change on the outside exceeds the rate of change on the inside, the end is near.  —Jack Welch

Maybe it won’t work out. But maybe seeing if it does will be the best adventure ever.  —unknown

When you love what you have, you have everything you need.  —unknown

Love the life you live. Live the life you love.  —Bob Marley

Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love.  It’s all the love you want to give, but cannot.  All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest.  Grief is just love with no place to go.  —Jamie Anderson.  But what if you decided to send that love to somewhere, to help hurting people, to meet a need, to minister in the name of Jesus!  Then grief becomes transformed into something beautiful and wonderful.  —Richard Graham

Difference Between Calvinism and Traditionalism?

When a Calvinist says God is sovereign, he means “God decides everything.”

When a Traditionalist says God is sovereign, he means “God decides everything except what He chosen to give to humans and various other creatures to decide in their free will.”  But He is not a hands-off God. God continually moves history to His planned conclusion of the new heaven and new earth.  —unknown

If I waited for perfection, I would never write a word.  —Margaret Atwood

In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.  --Albert Einstein

When I examine myself and my methods of thought, I come to the conclusion that the gift of fantasy has meant more to me than my talent for absorbing positive knowledge.  --Albert Einstein

He who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe is as good as dead; his eyes are closed.  --Albert Einstein
